A Message from Brenda Rice

Inspiring!  That is how I describe the energy and commitment of our dynamic Foundation and amazing supporters like you.  Since its inception, the Foundation has grown in so many ways.  I am proud to announce we have moved into our new and permanent location in the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge and Lexington Foundation Volunteer Center. We are excited about this opportunity to work on the site of such a highly needed facility to patients receiving cancer treatment in Central Kentucky.

The Lexington Foundation recently hosted its 2006 Fall Wine Celebration on Friday, October 13, 2006.  Two hundred and twenty four guests filled the Round Barn at the Red Mile.  Guests enjoyed an elegant dinner prepared by Bayou Bluegrass Catering and exceptional wine pairing by Stonestreet Vineyards and Jordan Winery.  The Foundation surpassed its fundraising goal for the evening, as the live auction was a huge success.

On Friday, October 27, 2006, the Foundation held its second annual Medical Symposium in conjunction with the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.  This year's topic was Colorectal Cancer: Prevention, Early Detection, and Optimal Treatment.  Dr. Alfred Cohen, Director of the Markey Cancer Center, was highly instrumental in securing a world class panel of physicians.

Over the next few weeks, the Foundation will announce its grant recipients for 2006.  We are honored to have the continued support of contributors throughout the United States.  It is because of you that we are able to fulfill our mission to create awareness and raise funds in the fight against cancer.  Together we make a difference.
