About Lex Foundation

Our Story

Our journey began in 2008 in Dublin, Ireland, when a group of Indian students, led by peace activist Anish Singh, took their first step toward making a meaningful change. In the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks, they came together to stand in solidarity with the people of India. This initial intervention laid the foundation for a much greater movement, which became the Human Brotherhood Initiative—a global advocacy and awareness campaign promoting equality, peace, and harmony.

Fueled by the desire to continue advocating for peace, justice, equality, and the protection of human rights, this movement blossomed into the creation of the Lex Foundation in 2016, headquartered in Delhi, India.

The Lex Foundation (LF) was established to expand the HBI advocacy campaign beyond national boundaries and implement more strategic interventions by building a network of professionals and educated individuals dedicated to promoting and protecting equality and human rights, while addressing man-made suffering caused by discrimination, inequality, poverty, injustice, and illiteracy.

How & Where it all begun

It all began in the mind of Anish Singh while he was pursuing his master’s degree in Ireland. Deeply moved by the tragic Mumbai attacks that claimed the lives of innocent people without reason, he felt compelled to act, standing in solidarity with the people of India. This pivotal moment sparked a commitment to stand against violence and injustice, leading to the creation of a movement dedicated to promoting peace, equality, and the protection of human rights. Anish Singh recalls how and where it all began:

“I was deeply moved by the tragic Mumbai attacks, and I felt a strong need to act—to publicly condemn this senseless, inhuman act of violence and to send a clear message that it is never right to kill innocent people out of hatred.

I reached out to my Indian friends who were also studying in Dublin at the time, asking them to come together in compassion and solidarity for our homeland, India.

This first step, driven by a shared commitment to unity, eventually led to the launch of a global advocacy campaign—the Human Brotherhood Initiative—and later, the creation of the Lex Foundation in 2016, almost five years after I returned and settled in India. This is where it all began. I never imagined I would be doing something like this in my life. I don’t feel like I’m doing it because I want to, but because it is needed.”
